Jack’s Restaurant construction underway in New Albany
Construction is underway at the intersection of Bankhead St. and Highway 30 in New Albany for the new Jack’s Restaurant.
In March it was said construction on the new facility was expected to start in April, but, as with many things during 2020, it was delayed.
Site preparation and construction started in July. Progress has been substantial during the recent two weeks, with less rainfall than earlier in the year.
Basic site work is complete. The plumbing is now “roughed in.” The concrete slab is poured and curing. Framing lumber has been delivered to the site.
Weather permitting, the general shape of the building should start to form within a few days.
Jack’s is headquartered in Birmingham. It was founded in 1960 when Jack Caddell opened Jack’s Hamburgers in Homewood, five miles south of downtown Birmingham.
The company has grown steadily. When the New Albany restaurant opens, it will bring the total number of Jack’s Restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi close to 200.
The restaurant chain is now owned by AEA Investors, a private equity firm based in New York.
Jack’s serves breakfast foods, sandwiches, chicken, drinks, salads and a variety of desserts.
The restaurant will offer both drive-in and dining room service.
