Fire rages at Thomas Wholesale Furniture
New Albany MS June 26,2019-Thomas Wholesale Furniture fire.
A fire in the early hours of Wednesday, June 26, 2019 appeared likely to destroy the entire building and contents of Thomas Wholesale Furniture, north of New Albany on Highway 15.
The building, on the east side of Highway 15, 3.6 miles north of the intersection of Highways 15 and 30, is about 900 feet long, stretching west to east from the highway.
The fire extended the full length of the building at 2 AM Wednesday when these photographs were taken by a NAnewsweb.com photographer.
Four fire departments, with a dozen or more pieces of firefighting equipment, were on the scene, pouring water on the roaring flames.
At 2 AM there were believed to have been no injuries. However, no report from official sources was available at that time regarding the causes and losses of the big blaze. Nor were there any guesses as to when the conflagration would be totally under control and extinguished.
The building was formerly a part of the manufacturing operations of Piper Industries.
